120th Anniversary Celebrations of Snake Path Opening

120th anniversary celebrations of the permanent opening of the Snake Path (Saturday 27-Sunday 28 May). Organised by the Peak & Northern Footpaths Society (PNFS) with support from Hayfield groups, the weekend marking this historical footpath’s opening in 1897 includes an exhibition, talks, plaque unveiling, poetry readings and musical performances at The Royal Hotel and activities and games for families and young people at Hayfield Village Hall (12pm-4pm on Saturday). On Sunday, why not participate in a guided walk starting from The Royal’s car park at 10am? Choose either a 3-mile or an 8-mile walk, both ending at pubs with a minibus return transfer. Walkers to be welcomed back by local jazz band Kinder Blue who will be playing in Hayfield cricket pavilion (sets at 2.15pm and 4pm). Free entry but donations in aid of PNFS welcome!
