Delicious pub classics and Sunday roasts a speciality!

We serve a range of great pub classics plus some interesting seasonal alternatives, which change regularly. There are the eternal favourites such as Fish and Chips, Pies, Burgers and Scampi but do not miss the specials! Recent dishes have included Monkfish wrapped in Parma Ham with a White Wine Sauce, Black Pudding, Fondant Potato and Seasonal Veg; Chicken Pesto Linguini; and Sticky Crispy Beef Salad with Vermicelli Noodles. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available on the menu.

Our Sunday roasts have a great reputation with a choice of three roast meats, as well as a vegetarian/vegan roast option. Perfect after a day in the hills!

A selection of homemade desserts completes your dining experience with treats such as Chocolate Brownie with Chocolate Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream; Sticky Toffee Pudding with Toffee Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream; or how about a summer special Knickerbocker Glory? Yummy!

Our bespoke two and three-course Festive Season Menu is available from 1-24 December for lunches and dinners. The menu includes starters such as Caramelised goat’s cheese salad with candied walnuts and a spiced fig dressing and a Duck parfait with orange and Cointreau glaze and warm toast.

In addition to the traditional turkey with all the trimmings, our mains also include Ale-braised featherblade of beef, Honey-glazed salmon and a vegan Beetroot Wellington.

To finish there is a gorgeous Chocolate, almond and pistachio torte with Chantilly cream or how about a Caramel apple pie with custard? Don’t panic! Christmas pud with brandy sauce is also on the menu!

Three courses, coffee and mince pie £23.50 (children under 11 £12.95)

On Christmas Day we are offering a five-course lunch for groups of 4+. Tables can be booked between 12:00 and 15:00 (subject to availability). For starters you can opt for Celeriac and artichoke soup, Beef carpaccio, Goat’s cheese and fig tart or Smoked salmon, dill and caper rolls.

There is a choice of two Christmas roasts (Turkey or a vegan Chestnut and cashew nut roast) plus Lamb shank and Pan-fried salmon fillet options.

Puds feature, of course, a traditional Christmas pudding with brandy sauce, Pannacotta with winter citrus compote, a Hazelnut praline crème caramel or a vegan Apple and elderflower crumble. Yum!

Five-course Christmas Day menu £70 per person (children under 11 £35).

Pet policy

Well-behaved dogs (on short leads) are welcome in the public bar areas on the ground floor and the patio outside.
