Hayfield tourism boom?

  • by

hayfeild-boomHayfield should be making the most of any potential rise in tourists from a new BBC drama shot in the village, according to the parish council.

Chairman Andrew Ramwell said the council should be doing all it can to promote the village.

“The idea is that we will be ready if we are going to get a rise in tourists.”

He hopes by making preparations, any extra visitors will be impressed with the village and what it has to offer.
lCllr Ramwell suggested the council contact the group who are trying to push forward plans for a heritage centre to mark the Kinder Trespass.
The scheme originally intended to use the council’s Dungeon Brow office but the decision was later changed and grants obtained were returned.
“It is time the council went back to these people and said we should at least be on board with you,” he added:.
“I think we should be liaising and trying to move it forward for the sake of Hayfield. I feel the council should be doing its best to support their endeavours.”
The council is to write to the steering group.
